Work 1: Connected 2025
Hand-shredded plant fibres, recycled paper, forged pigments, oils, Indian vermillion, Fuller’s Earth, and Red Ochre.
Connected is an exploration of the transformative power of ritualistic labour. Crafted from hand-shredded jute fibre, the work is meticulously layered and saturated with hand-forged, clay-based pigments. Through the repetitive processes of tearing, staining, and reshaping, I transformed a domestic material into a complex sculptural form. The piece navigates the intersections of identity and cultural memory, using fragile yet enduring textures to give physical form to "invisible labour."
Work 2: Being on Earth 2025
Recycled paper, natural pigments, xanthan gum, bio-waste, oils, geru, and henna.
Being on Earth is a collection of small-scale, scent-bearing sculptures that merge olfactory memory with sculptural form. Utilizing traditional incense-making techniques and a "doughing" process inspired by my mother’s daily bread-making, I creates forms that echo the sacred and the domestic. These papier-mâché structures, reminiscent of traditional Indian deities, act as sensory vessels—holding scent within their porous surfaces to evoke a profound connection between the body and the earth.
